Affecting Business Outcomes through Self-Paced Learning
A recent report1 of over 300 global businesses show they spent an average of $1,229 per employee on training in 2014. These companies did so because they identified skill gaps in their work processes and took action to alleviate them. Obviously, in the current business climate many organizations are taking a hard look at even this modest level of investment in their employees.
In the report, these companies received training using the following delivery methods: 51% classroom training, 41% technology-based training and the rest using informal methods, such as on-the-job training1. Trends show traditional classroom training is dropping as knowledge transfer is increasingly augmented by online courses.
Is Online Training Effective? At PipingDesignOnline.com we feel comfortable saying that it is! But not only is it effective, it is also a great way for users to augment any classroom training they may have taken in the past. For example, users of PipingDesignOnline.com courses will soon be able, at any time, to use text search phrases and be shown all the instances where that phrase is covered in any of our video course content. That means that the tool not only functions as a training tool, but also as an aide memoir, or targeted help feature with detailed examples – that are delivered exactly at the point of need.
Investing in Knowledge The investment needed to access one month of Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions approved self-paced online training for CADWorx, CAESAR II, or PV Elite is little more than 5% of what the earlier report shows companies spend on training their employees.
