Easy Keyboard Shortcuts for GT STRUDL®

We’ve built some super helpful keyboard shortcuts you can use when putting together your GT STRUDL project. Below are a few that are often used in any structural analysis project.

ZOOM

Magnify an Object: Press “Z” then press the up key to zoom in and down key to zoom out. Alternatively, you can press “Z” and use the rollerball on your mouse to zoom in and zoom out.
Zoom All: Press “U” to see the full screen view of the structure. Use the rollerball or up and down arrows to zoom in and out while holding “U.”
Zoom Window: Press “W” to zoom to a specific window. Define a window with your right mouse button in the graphics window.
Previous Zoom Setting: Press “B” to go back to your previous zoom settings.
Next Zoom Setting: Press “N” to switch to your next zoom setting.

PAN

Hold “P” and use the arrow right or left keys to pan your view right and left.

ROTATE

Press the “R” key while pressing the arrow right or left keys to rotate around the vertical axis. To rotate around the horizontal axis, press the “R” key while pressing the arrow up or down keys. Alternatively, you can hold a right click on your mouse and move the mouse around to rotate your view.

LABELLING SHORTCUTS

Label All: Press the “L” then “A” keys to label all joints, members, and elements.
Support Joints: Press the “L” then “S” keys to label support joints.
Members: Press the “L” then “M” keys to label members. An “Enter Data” dialog box will appear asking you to label all members of user-defined members.
Support Elements: Press the “L” then “E” keys to label support elements. An “Enter Data” dialog box will appear asking you to label all elements of user-specified elements.

SAVED VIEW

Press the “V” key, right click on the graphics window, then type the view number (i.e., 1, 2, 3…).

INQUIRE

Inquire: Press the “I” key.
Entity: Press the “A” key, then right click on the entity you want to inquire.
Joint: Press the “J” key, then right click on the joint you want to inquire.
Member: Press the “M” key, then right click on the member you want to inquire.
Element: Press the “E” key, then right click on the element you want to inquire.

CONTROL KEYS

CTRL + P: Print
CTRL + A: Annotate
CTRL + T: Labels options panel
CTRL + Z: Zoom options panel
CTRL + D: Redraw as wireframe
CTRL + R: Rotate options panel
CTRL + S: Redraw as solid objects
